Unlimited medical cover while overseas
We cover medical expenses incurred overseas if they’re the result of injury or illness that happens during your trip that requires immediate treatment, and provided the injury first arises during your travel.

We also provide an allowance and reasonable accommodation expenses if you have to be hospitalised, plus we’ll cover travel and accommodation expenses for a friend or family member to stay with you.

This cover extends to emergency dental treatment as well. Maximum limits do apply.
Luggage, personal effects, money and documents
If your bags are damaged or lost we’ll either pay to replace them and their contents, pay you the market value of your lost items or we’ll pay the cost of restoring an item as close as possible to the same condition.

We’ll pay for essential personal effects if your bags are delayed for more than 12 hours.

We also cover money and travel documents during your travel, but you must take reasonable care with them and report lost credit cards or travellers cheques within 24 hours.
Travel disruption and extended delay
We cover non-refundable deposits if you have to cancel or change your travel arrangements before you leave because of an accident which means you can no longer take the trip.

We’ll also provide accommodation, transport and meal expenses if you encounter an extended delay to your trip that’s beyond your control such as a lengthy flight delay.

If you’re going to a special event such as a wedding that can’t be rescheduled and you miss a connection because of events beyond your control, we’ll cover transport expenses that you incur catching up with your scheduled itinerary.

And if you have to return to New Zealand early because of the unexpected death or sudden life-threatening injury or illness of your travelling companion or a close family member, we will cover the additional expenses.

We cover personal liability such as your rental vehicle excess, and your legal liability if you should accidentally cause death or injury to someone else or damage to their property during your travel up to a value of $2.5m. We also provide a death and disablements benefit, and cover for search and rescue costs, hijack distress and terrorism.
