Essential insurance for your home so you know you’ve got the basics covered


 

 Essence cover provides

 
  • Open all
    Protection against damage or loss to your home

    If your house is damaged we’ll pay either to repair or restore your home to the position it was in prior to the damage If it’s totally destroyed and you choose not to rebuild it on the same site, we may also agree to pay you its value at the time of the damage so you can build a new home somewhere else.

  • Landlord protection

    If your house is tenanted this cover extends to include fixtures and fittings owned by you. You also have protection against loss of rent if the house is rendered uninhabitable because of damage that’s covered under this policy.

  • New building work

    Essence cover extends to any new building work being undertaken around your home and any associated building materials.

  • ​Home office

    Any part of your home that you use as a home office is also covered under this policy.

  • Protection from personal liability for damage to other property

    We’ll cover your legal liability if you accidentally damage someone else’s property or if you accidentally injure somebody, anywhere in New Zealand in relation to your home ownership. Provided you check with us first, we may also cover your legal fees.

  • Sustainability upgrade

    We’ll provide up to $15,000 towards the additional cost of using sustainable building materials if you have to rebuild your home after a total loss.

    Essence cover provides many more benefits. These include an alternative accommodation benefit if your home can’t be lived in because of damage that’s covered by this policy, a stress payment of up to $2000 if your home is totally destroyed, and up to $2500 to cover landscaping costs if your garden is damaged in an event that you can claim for.
