Distinction cover provides

Protection against damage or loss to your home contents
Your home contents and personal effects are covered for accidental loss or damage, including while they’re temporarily away from your residence. If you have to make a claim, we’ll either pay to have the item repaired, replace the item with another one or pay you its value at the time the loss occurred.
Cover for family member’s items while away
If you have family members away from home attending a learning institution such as university or boarding school, we provide up to $5000 cover for their belongings.
Holiday cover for international travel
Personal belongings such as luggage, clothes and jewellery that you take with you while you’re on holiday in Australia or the Pacific Islands are fully covered as they would be while you’re at home. For jewellery and watches, this cover applies anywhere in the world.
Home office equipment
We provide up to $25,000 cover for home office furniture and equipment while it’s at your home, or up to $5,000 cover while it’s temporarily located elsewhere.
Personal liability cover
We’ll cover your legal liability if you accidentally damage someone else’s property or if you accidentally injure somebody, anywhere in New Zealand. Provided you check with us first, we may also cover your defence costs.
Automatic extensions
Distinction Contents cover also includes automatic cover of up to $1,000,000 for your legal liability if a domestic employee is injured while fulfilling their duties or if their belongings are lost or damaged. If you’re a tenant, you’ll also enjoy up to $1,000,000 legal liability cover for damage to your rented place of residence.

Our Distinction Contents policy provides a suite of further benefits that will ensure you have total peace of mind. These include a stress payment of $2000 if you have to make a claim for total loss of your contents, up to $3000 cover for keys and locks, cover for the reasonable cost of clearing up damaged contents debris, and a benefit that will replace the contents of your freezer if they perish due to a freezer breakdown or if the power is accidentally disconnected. We even provide a benefit of up to $500 to pay your cellphone network provider in the instance where your mobile is stolen and someone makes calls on it for which you are held responsible.
